2009 WSLA

DIVISION II FIELD DIRECTIONS

 

FERRY INFORMATION

There is complete info at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries for Bainbridge, Bremerton and Kingston boat times and fares. Approx ride times: ~35 min for Bainbridge, ~60 min for Bremerton, ~25 min for Kingston.

 

Call the Coleman dock at 206-464-6400 24 hours in advance to get a reservation for a team. You must arrive 30 minutes prior but you are put in a special lane. This alleviates the stress of making the ferry.

 

AUBURN MOUNTAINVIEW HIGH SCHOOL

From the south, north or west of Auburn:

East Entrance

Take Hwy 176 to Auburn, then Hwy 18 E. Exit at 304^th St. Turn right onto 304^th and proceed to the light at 132^nd Ave SE. Turn right onto 132^nd Ave SE and proceed � mile. The east entrance will be on your left. The lights on the ball fields will be visible on your left as you near the entrance. All gym events will enter through the west courtyard at the west end of the building. Parking for gym events will also be at the west end of the building. Proceed past the front entrance to the school to get to the west parking lots.

 

West Entrance

Follow the same directions as above to get to 132^nd Ave SE. As soon as you turn right onto 132^nd Ave. SE you will turn left onto 304^th and proceed to the light at 124^th Ave SE. Turn right on 124^th Ave. SE, proceed � mile to the right turn lane and the west entrance to Auburn Mountainview High School. It�s easy to miss the entrance, proceed slowly. Parking is to the right as you enter campus. The West Courtyard is adjacent to the upper west parking lot and between the two wings of the building.

 

From east of Auburn:

Take Hwy 18 westbound. Use the 304^th St exit and follow the same directions above.

 

From the north through Kent:

On the surface streets in Kent proceed east or west to either 124^th Ave. SE or 132^nd Ave. SE and proceed south.

 

On 124^th Ave SE. proceed south looking for the green water tower on the Auburn/Kent city line. Turn left just beyond the tower at the Auburn Mountainview High School entrance. You will be at the west end of the building. Do not turn left onto 288^th street. 

 

On 132^nd Ave SE. proceed south past Reber Ranch, turn right from the long right turn lane. You will be at the east end of the building. Do not park in the east parking lot for events in the gyms. You�ll have a very long walk around the building to the west entrance.

 

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND

Bainbridge High School Stadium

Take the Bainbridge ferry from the Coleman Dock in Seattle.  Exit the ferry and stay on Hwy 305 to the second light at High School Road.  Due to construction at Bainbridge High School there is no access for buses to the stadium.  Turn left onto High School Road, enter the traffic circle, and immediately exit right onto Madison Avenue N.  Turn left (less than 100yds ahead) at the Aquatic Center and District Offices.  Turn left in front of the Aquatic Center, drive to the end of the parking lot and pull against the curb.  Players can walk up the hill to the right to the stadium field.  Travel time is about 5 minutes from the ferry and 2 minute walk to the stadium.  Cars can drive back behind the Aquatic Center to Bainbridge High School Stadium but parking is very limited.  We apologize for this disruption. 

 

BALLARD

Ballard High School

From the north/south:

From I-5 (North or South) take exit 169 (NE 45th Street). Proceed west on NE 45th, continue approximately 1 mile. Road curves onto N Midvale Place, goes under hwy 99 (Aurora Ave), and then meets up with N 46th Street. Continue straight on N 46th, it will wind down the hill and turn into NW Market Street. Continue on NW Market, turn right onto 15th Ave NW. Continue up 15th Ave NW, you'll see high school on right as you pass NW 65th Street. Turn right onto NW 67th street, and then right into the school parking lot. Field is to the east of the parking lot, take sidewalk between tennis courts and gymnasium.   

 

From the east:

Take either I-90 or SR 520 across Lake Washington west towards Seattle.  Merge onto I-5 North, and take exit 169 (NE 45th Street). Proceed west on NE 45th, continue approximately 1 mile. Road curves onto N Midvale Place, goes under hwy 99 (Aurora Ave), and then meets up with N 46th Street. Continue straight on N 46th, it will wind down the hill and turn into NW Market Street. Continue on NW Market, turn right onto 15th Ave NW. Continue up 15th Ave NW, you'll see high school on right as you pass NW 65th Street. From the west (Colman Ferry dock):

Turn left onto Alaskan Way and proceed north along the waterfront.  Turn right onto Broad, proceed over the RR tracks, and make an immediate left onto Elliott Avenue.  Continue on Elliott (it will jog right to a stop light�turn left at the light and you�ll proceed on Elliott Avenue.)   Elliott curves right and turns into 15^th Ave W.  Continue on 15th Ave W, over the Ballard Bridge; you�ll continue straight on 15^th, crossing over NW Market Street.  You�ll see the high school on the right as you pass NW 65^th Street. Turn right onto NW 67th street, and then right into the school parking lot. Field is to the east of the parking lot. Take sidewalk between tennis courts and gymnasium.

From the south via I-405 N:

At Exit 11, take ramp right for I-90 east towards Spokane. At Exit 11B, take ramp right for 148^th Ave SE toward Bellevue Community College. Bear right onto 148^th Ave SE. From the east via I-90:

From the west via I-90:

At Exit 11B, take ramp right for 148^th Ave SE toward Bellevue Community College. Bear right onto 148^th Ave SE. Take a right on SE 22^nd St. Parking lot is on the right.

 

EASTSIDE CATHOLIC

Eastside Catholic High School

Eastside Catholic is located off 228^th Ave and is set back ~ � mile from the main road

 

From I-90 (heading east):

Take Exit 15 (WA 900 west/17^th Ave NW toward Lake Sammamish State Park/Renton). Turn left at 17^th Ave NW/Renton Issaquah Rd SE. Take the slight right on SE 56^th St. Take left onto E Lake Sammamish Pkwy. Take right onto SE 43^rd. Go up hill and continue on road for ~4 miles past the Pine Lake shopping center. SE 43^rd becomes 228^th. Follow 228^th past Skyline HS. Take right onto SE 4^th.

 

From 520:

Take exit for Redmond Way/WA 202. Keep right at the fork. Follow signs for WA 202E/Fall City/North Bend and merge onto Redmond Way. Take right on Sahalee Way NE. Sahalee Way becomes 228^th. Follow for ~2 miles and take left on SE 4^th St.

N.E. 45^th St. (Exit #169):

Go east on NE 45^th St., past the UW campus, heading down hill. At bottom of hill, turn left at stoplight.  Continue east on NE 45^th St. which bears left/north becoming Sand Point Way NE. Continue on Sand Point Way NE about 2 miles (passing Children�s Hospital).  At NE 65^th St., turn right into park entrance.  NOTE:  You do NOT want the main entrance, which is at NE 74^th.  From the park entrance, follow the directions below. 

 

NE 65^th St. (Exit # 171):

Go east on NE 65^th St (stay on the arterial!) approx. 4 miles until you cross Sand Point Way NE into the park entrance.  From the park entrance, follow the directions below.

 

From SR 520:

                Take the Montlake Blvd. exit (north); continue north on Montlake Blvd. about 1 mile. Bear right as Montlake Blvd. becomes NE 45^th St. Continue east on NE 45^th St., which bears left/north becoming Sand Point Way NE. Continue on Sand Point Way NE about 2 miles (passing Children�s Hospital). At NE 65^th St, turn right into park entrance.  From the park entrance, follow the directions below.

 

From I-90:

                Take I-5 north to NE 45^th St. (Exit #169) or to NE 65^th St. (Exit #171) and follow the directions above.

 

From the park entrance:

After entering the NE 65^th St entrance continue straight until you get to 2 �Do Not Enter� signs by the boat launch area. Turn left and continue past the 1^st stop sign to �Kite Hill.� The parking lot is on the left at the end of the road. Follow the signs for the �cross park trail� towards the tennis courts and the athletic fields/sports meadow. The lacrosse fields are in the sports meadow just beyond the tennis courts.

From 405:

Take I-90 East toward Spokane. Take the Front Street exit (Exit 17) toward E. Lake Sammamish Parkway SE. Take a left at the bottom of the ramp, at the light, onto Front Street N. Front Street N. becomes E Lake Sammamish Parkway SE, nearly immediately. Turn right onto SE Issaquah-Fall City Road (gas station immediately before you turn). Stay straight up this steep road, which turns into SE Duthie Hill Road. Turn left onto SE Issaquah Beaver Lake Road, and go .8 mile. BLMS will be on your left.

 

From the ferries:

Heading Southbound I-5:

Take I-5 South to exit 154B. Merge onto WA-518 W toward Burien. WA-518 W becomes S 148^th St. Turn right onto 1^st Ave S. Turn right onto S 140^th St. The field is in back of school.

 

Heading Northbound I-5:
Take I-5 North to exit 154. Take WA-518 W toward Burien. WA-518 W becomes S 148^th St. Turn right onto 1^st Ave S. Turn right onto S 140^th St. The field is in back of school.

 

Heading Southbound I-405:

Take I-405 South towards Renton. I-405 becomes WA-518 W which becomes S 148^th St. Turn right onto 1^st Ave S. Turn right onto S 140^th St. The field is in back of school.

 

From the ferries:

Take Alaskan Way south continuing onto E Marginal Way S. Slight right at WA-509 S. Take the WA-518/S 146^th St exit toward I-5/Sea-Tac Airport/Burien. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for S 146^th St. Turn right at S 146^th. Turn right onto 1^st Ave S. Turn right onto S 140^th St. The field is in the back of the school.

 

Via WA-99 S

Take Marion St to 1^st Ave S and turn right. Turn right at Columbia onto ramp to WA-99S. . Slight right at WA-509 S. Take the WA-518/S 146^th St exit toward I-5/Sea-Tac Airport/Burien. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for S 146^th St. Turn right at S 146^th. Turn right onto 1^st Ave S. Turn right onto S 140^th St. The field is in the back of the school.

 

KLAHOWYA

Klahowya Secondary School

From South Sound: Take Hwy 16 West approx. 6 mi to Hwy 3 North to NEWBERRY HILL RD. Turn LEFT onto Newberry Hill Rd (2.19 miles) Drive past school, and park in lot above football field. Fans should park in marked parking areas not along fire access road behind school. Play on football field. Total Estimated Time: 25 minutes, Total Distance: 10.76 miles. (Please paste in the remainder of directions you already had from Bremerton Ferry)  approx time 35 min 

 

From Edmonds:
Take Kingston ferry.  Take 104 West turning Right onto Hwy 305 North, follow signs to Hood Canal, not Poulsbo.  Go straight through first traffic light 1/8 mi. Immediately get in Left lane for HWY 3 SOUTH (To Bremerton, NOT Hood Canal).  Continue on HWY 3 South approx. 13 Mi to NEWBERRY HILL Exit.  Turn Right onto Newberry Hill (2.19 miles) Drive past school, and park in lot above football field. Fans should park in marked parking areas not along fire access road behind school. Play on football field. Total Estimated Time: 25 minutes, Total Distance: 10.76 miles approx time 45 min. 

From the Bremerton Ferry terminal: Start out going NORTHEAST on 1ST ST/WA-304 toward TERMINAL WAY. Continue to follow WA-304. (0.16 miles).  Turn LEFT onto BURWELL ST/WA-304. (1.36 miles) Turn RIGHT onto N CALLOW AVE/WA-310. (0.12 miles) Turn LEFT onto 6TH ST/WA-310. Continue to follow WA-310. (1.67 miles) Merge onto WA-3 N toward SILVERDALE/HOOD CANAL BR. (4.95 miles) Take the NEWBERRY HILL RD. exit. (0.30 miles) Turn LEFT onto NW NEWBERRY HILL RD. (2.19 miles) Drive past school, and park in lot above football field. Park there and walk through gate to the field. Play on the football field. Total Estimated Time: 25 minutes.

 

From the Bremerton Ferry terminal: Start out going NORTHEAST on 1ST ST/WA-304 toward TERMINAL WAY. Continue to follow WA-304. (0.16 miles).  Turn LEFT onto BURWELL ST/WA-304. (1.36 miles) Turn RIGHT onto N CALLOW AVE/WA-310. (0.12 miles) Turn LEFT onto 6TH ST/WA-310. Continue to follow WA-310. (1.67 miles) Merge onto WA-3 N toward SILVERDALE/HOOD CANAL BR. Go through the traffic light and take the left turn immediately past the mini-mart gas station on the left - this is Anderson Hill Rd. Go through a traffic light, past the high school and take the first right off the roundabout. Take the 2nd driveway into the school parking lot and proceed to the parking lot behind the building. Park there and walk through gate to the field. Play on the football field. Total estimated time: 45 minutes

 

LAKE SAMMAMISH

$1 daily parking fee - self-pay machines in parking lots; cars will be ticketed if parking stub not displayed

 

Please allow extra time for traffic.  Directions given are at posted speeds and do not account for bad traffic.  The ride can be a quick 30-45 minutes from Seattle or it can easily be more than 1 hour from the ferries.  Take time to listen to traffic reports--AM radio, KIRO 710 or KOMO 1000 every 10 minutes.  XM Radio Channel 220 also gives traffic reports every few minutes.

 

Note that the routes below will take you off 520 East sooner than in previous years.  This will hopefully help you avoid traffic that can back up at the West Lake Sammamish Pkwy exit off 520 East. 

 

From Seattle via I-5 North or I-5 South (20-25 minutes at posted speeds):

Take 520 East for approx. 9 miles to NE 40^th Street exit, then follow ramp for NE 51^st Street.  Turn right onto NE 51^st Street and follow to the end (approx. 1 mi.).  Turn left onto West Lake Sammamish Parkway.  Turn right at the next traffic light into Marymoor Park onto the main park road, Marymoor Way.  Follow park road 1 mile or less turning right into Parking Lot G for fields #7 through #9.  Pay parking fee (Field #7 is on your right).  Turn right and park at the end.  As you look at the fields, Field #9 is on the left. 

 

From Bainbridge/Bremerton-Seattle Ferry to I-5 North or I-90 East (45-50 minutes at posted speeds):

Turn right onto Alaskan Way South, follow � mile and turn left onto S. Atlantic Street (the next street AFTER Royal Brougham).  Continue past Safeco Field, up the ramp, following signs for I-5 and I-90.  At this point, depending on traffic, you can take I-5 North and follow directions as above from Seattle via I-5.  OR you can take I-90 East to I-405 North (7 mi.) to 520 East (3 mi.) and follow as above (from Seattle).  If I-405 is backed up, you can stay on I-90 East to Exit 13 (2 � mi.) (see directions below).

 

From I-90 East or I-90 West (Issaquah) (20-25 minutes at posted speeds):

Follow I-90 to Exit 13, following ramp to West Lake Sammamish Parkway.  Follow W. Lake Samm Pkwy for approximately 8-9 miles, bearing right at the end at traffic light (�The Marymoor� senior housing is on the left) and continuing on W. Lake Samm Pkwy for approx. � mile and turn right at light into Marymoor Park.  Follow main park road, Marymoor Way, 1 mile or less turning right into Parking Lot G for fields #7 through #9.  Pay parking fee (Field #7 is on your right).  Turn right and park at the end.  As you look at the fields, Field #9 is on the left. 

 

LAKESIDE

Take I-5 N. Take exit number 175- towards WA-523/N.E. 145TH ST. At the end of the exit ramp go left onto 145^th. Go a few lights and turn LEFT onto 1ST AVE NE.  The field is on the left. Parking is on the right. Bus info: Buses park in the "Stimson Lot" A gravel lot on the Right hand side of 1st Ave NE next to the soccer field.  Large buses should park along 1st Ave. NE (left hand side of the road) CAUTION: Do not park large buses in the "NORTH LOT" They can/will get high centered.

Take I 90 East. After crossing floating bridge onto Mercer Island, exit at Island Crest Way (#7B). LEFT on SE 40th St. RIGHT on 86th Ave. LEFT on 42nd St. LEFT into stadium parking lot

 

From Eastside:

Take I 90 West. After crossing east Channel bridge onto Mercer Island, exit at Island Crest Way. LEFT onto Island Crest Way. LEFT on SE 40th ST. RIGHT on 86th Ave. LEFT on 42nd St. LEFT into stadium parking lot.

NORTH KITSAP

North Kitsap Stadium

From Seattle: Take Bainbridge ferry (figure ~20 minutes to the field after ferry offloading). Go straight off ferry and follow Hwy 305 to Poulsbo (approx. 11 miles). At the 1^st light upon entering Poulsbo, turn right, onto Hostmark St. (there will be Chevron station on the corner). Proceed up the hill to the first 4-way stop sign. Turn left. Go to 3^rd driveway entrance and turn in. Parking is on the left. Go up hill to walkway to the stadium (on the left).

 

From Edmonds: Take Kingston ferry (figure ~20 minutes to the field after ferry offloading). Take Hwy 104 west to Hwy 307 south - follow signs to Poulsbo, not to Hood Canal Bridge. At the 2nd traffic light after the one for the turn off to the Hood Canal Bridge, turn left. This is Hwy 305 south. Go to the 3^rd traffic light and turn left onto Lincoln Rd. Go to next traffic light and turn right. Go through 4-way stop sign and turn into first driveway on the left. Parking is on the left. Go up hill to walkway to the stadium (on the left).

 

From South Sound: (approx 1 hr from west side of bridge) Take Hwy 16 west to Hwy 3 north to Hwy 305 south (Bainbridge Is./Kingston exit.) Turn right at light at bottom of exit ramp and get into the middle/left lane. Go to the 5th traffic light and turn left onto Lincoln Rd. Go to next traffic light and turn right. Go through 4-way stop sign and turn into first driveway on the left. Parking is on the left. Go up hill to walkway to the stadium (on the left).

 

Strawberry Field

Take I-5 north to exit #186 (128^th St). Take a right at the exit heading east.  Proceed straight for 6.1 miles to Hwy. 9 and turn left (north) onto Hwy 9.  From this point, continue 3.2 miles north and cross the Snohomish valley.  At the north end of the valley slow down as you cross the Snohomish River bridge and take the first exit ramp to the right after the bridge.  Make a right turn at the stop sign and head east on Second St. for 0.9 miles to the second traffic light and turn left (north) onto Maple Ave.  Proceed due north on Maple Ave. for 0.3 miles.  The Freshman Campus is on the left.  Enter at the sign and park � the field (a football field with a track around it) is behind the school.  The school�s mailing address is 601 Glen Ave, the entrance is from the main arterial on Maple Ave.

Take I-405 north to Woodinville/Bothell interchange.  Exit onto Route 527 heading east toward Wenatchee / Monroe for 2.8 miles and exit onto Hwy 9.  Turn left (north) onto Hwy 9 toward Snohomish and proceed for 9.2 miles. This will bring you to the Snohomish river bridge. Proceed south on I-405. Exit I-405 at SR 169, Exit 4 (Maple Valley, Enumclaw.) Go to the 2nd stop light and turn left on to Hwy 169 to Maple Valley. Travel approx. 12 miles and turn right at McDonald�s onto Wax Road (traffic light / next light past the park & ride). Wax road eventually becomes S.E. 240th St. Continue on S.E. 240th to Tahoma H.S., on the right just past the Tahoma National Cemetery.

 

From SeaTac//Southcenter:
Take I-405 to Exit 4 (Maple Valley, Enumclaw). Turn right off of exit onto Hwy 169 to Maple Valley. Follow remaining directions listed above.

 

From South:
Proceed north on I-5 through Tacoma. After entering King County, exit right at Highway 18 (Auburn, North Bend exit.) Heading east on Highway 18, travel for approximately 13 miles to the SE 256th St. exit. Turn left off the exit onto SE 256th and go to the traffic light at 180th St. SE. Turn right (north) onto 180th St. SE and continue to the �T� in the road at SE 240th St. Turn right onto SE 240th and look for the main parking lot entrance, adjacent to the swimming pool.

 

From East I-90 via Hwy 18:

From I-90, take Hwy 18 west to SD 256^th St exit. At end of exit turn right onto SE 256th and continue to the traffic light at 180th St. SE. Turn right and follow to the �T� in the road at SE 240th St. Turn right onto SE 240th and look for the main parking lot entrance, adjacent to the swimming pool.
